Shelley & Keith's trip to Italy and the Greek Islands! Day 1 - Venice! 09/21/19

This is a big trip for us! Keith and I traveled to Italy and a cruise to the Greek Islands, just the two of us! As much as I travel, and as we travel as a family, it's been years since the two of us have been able to go away! We have gone on a couple of short trips, a weekend away once for my birthday and then a shorter 4 day trip, but it's been 10 years since the two of us have gone on a longer, real trip together alone!

We started our journey with a nonstop flight on American Airlines out of Philadelphia to Venice. The flight was good, I'm not sure that either of us slept very much, but when we landed we were ready to go!

The view as we sailed out over the Jersey beaches

Almost to Italy! The Alps covered in snow!

We collected our luggage and met our driver who would take us to our water taxi.  We had a great ride into Venice where we checked into our hotel for the night.

We were dropped off right at our hotel, the Maison Venezia UNA Esperienze.  It was still early, only about 10:00 am, so our room wasn't ready yet.  We checked in and dropped off our bags and set out to wander the streets!  We had been in Venice several years ago and were familiar with the winding streets and I was looking forward to walking around with no real purpose other than taking it all in!

We stopped at this most colorful candy store!

We made our way to San Marco Square!

The Bridge of Sighs

We were getting hungry, so of course we had pizza for lunch! By the time we were done eating and made our way back to our hotel our room was ready so we could drop off our backpacks and relax for a bit before heading out again.

Our room was tiny but very nice. We were only here for one night and I would definitely recommend this hotel!

If we opened our window and looked to the left, we even had a bit of a canal view!

Next up, our first evening in Italy!
