All Aboard! It's Time to Set Sail! Wind Star Here We Come!

We had a wonderful day touring Barbados, and we were now ready to board the Wind Star, one of the sailing yachts that is a part of Windstar Cruise Lines.  This would be a first for both of us! Sure, we're both travel agents, and we've both been on many cruises of all kinds!  Large ships, smaller ships and river cruises!  But we've never been on a yacht cruise!  And that was the purpose of this trip for both of us. To learn as much as we could about this type of ship, and the type of cruise for our clients!  What really sets a Windstar Cruise apart?  What makes it unique?

When we boarded, we were greeted by a very welcoming crew and escorted to the Lounge area for our check in. There was no fancy computer system such as you may find on the large cruise lines, and in this way it was more like a river cruise.  They checked our names off a list and collected our passports and off we went to our cabin.

The cabin was large for a cruise ship. Plenty of space for the two of us!  We met our cabin steward right away and he told us he would split our bed into two twin beds.  We unpacked and got ready to explore the ship a bit before the sail away!

We really enjoyed this little sitting area during our cruise!

The bathroom was very spacious with plenty of places for storage and enough counter space for both of us!

The closet is also large too, with these basket drawers which were great for holding bags and shoes!

A well stocked mini-bar!

There is also a chest of drawers in the room as well. The TV is on the wall at the foot of the bed. It's a bit small for the size of the room, but it's fine!  There are no balcony cabins on these ships, so there is a nice sized porthole window.

We had our muster drill, which required actually bringing our life vests, and putting them on! Do I look thrilled about this?

On our way up to the sail away party, I took just a few pictures.

There were several other ships docked here in Barbados getting ready to sail off tonight! We waited our turn. It was a beautiful night!  There were even a couple of other Windstar ships as well.

We were looking forward to tomorrow.  It would be the first of our sea days.  A day to relax.  Can't wait!
