Sailing....Truly Sailing! November 26th & 27th, 2017

We woke up to incredibly blue skies and that wonderful feeling of being out to sea.  Nothing more relaxing than that! Breakfast on the Wind Star is served in the Veranda, with both inside and outside dining.  There is also a Continental Breakfast set out at the Pool bar every morning.

Each morning there was a morning walk with the Ship's Officers offered.  They started with a 2 mile walk and by the end of the week I believe it was up to 3 or maybe 3 and a 1/2 miles. There was also daily Yoga every morning as well.

After breakfast Lisa and I went up to the pool deck and found our chairs and proceeded to enjoy our time in the sun. Sure we had plans to take advantage of some of the activities offered during the day. While it's a small ship, with few activities, we did plan to sit in on some of them.  But relaxation seemed to win over! At least that first day!

You might wonder if we had our own private yacht?  Where are the other passengers?  They came and went, and for part of the day it really was quite hot out there! Many people did go inside, or at least were sitting in the shade by the bar.  Many guests were reading, playing cards, or just socializing in other parts of the ship. There was an un-hosted Bridge gathering in the library during the afternoon as well.

On our first night there was a Captain's Welcome Reception.  We found out that this sailing was our Captain's first one with Windstar. He had a fantastic personality, and we even had the pleasure of dining with him at the Captain's Table one evening.

Tonight's entertainment was "Name That Tune" with the onboard musicians.

Monday was pretty much a repeat of Sunday.  Relaxing in the sun! Our itinerary was slightly unusual for a Windstar sailing.  We had four sea days.  I loved spending those days relaxing in the sun, reading and hopping into the pool on deck!  Some may have found it to be a bit too much of a slow pace though!

Today was a true sailing day!  It was pretty cool to be out at sea with the sails up!

Below is one of my favorite pictures. From the front of the ship, sailing forward, sun shining.... the feeling is just amazing!  It probably was right about then that I truly "got it". It's when I just knew what a Windstar cruise is all about.

We had been experiencing amazing service already. The staff is beyond exceptional. But standing there with the sails up, and the wide open ocean in every direction...this is what they mean by "180 Degrees From Ordinary".

And we still got our towel animals every night!

Tomorrow.... our first port!
