Strolling through Venice!

We last left you with our brave group, map in hand, setting off on our leisurely walk from our hotel to our Gondola ride meeting point.  Our map looked something like this


Sure - we can do this!  Venice isn't that big!  Once you realize the street names are up on the sides of the buildings, it's pretty darn easy actually!



And you just go with the flow - other than the fact that we did have someplace to be at 6:30 - we were fine with just wandering.  

First we came to the Rialto Bridge.  Tourist Mecca it seemed!  We took pictures and we did a little souvenir shopping.  If you are following on the map, the Rialto Bridge is one of the four bridges that crosses the Grand Canal. And it's the oldest bridge that crosses it!  It's huge and probably the most photographed!  


The views of the canal are beautiful.  So much activity going on!



And it's so colorful!




Pretty sure Alex is tickling Megan in this picture!






Walking over the bridge, lined with shops...it's quite crowded!

Next up...our Gondola time!
